How much does a crawl space sump pump cost in Jacksonville?
Published 2026 cost guides put a sump pump at $650–$2,100 installed, including the basin, the pump and the discharge line. A battery backup adds $600–$2,000. A dirt crawlspace floor is quicker to dig than concrete, while a tight crawlspace and a long discharge run add time.
Do I need a battery backup for my sump pump?
If the crawlspace takes on water in storms, it is worth having. The storms that raise the water table are the same ones that knock the power out, and a pump without power is just a basin. A battery backup keeps the pump running through the outage.
Why does my sump pump run all the time?
Usually because the water table is up, which is normal in storm season on river and coastal lots. If it keeps running in dry weather, the float may be stuck, the check valve may be letting water fall back into the basin, or the pump may be too small for the water it gets. Any of those is worth a look before the pump burns out.
How long does a sump pump last?
Submersible pumps, the usual kind in a sealed basin, typically last 5 to 20 years depending on how hard they work. One that runs through every storm season wears out sooner, so test it before summer by pouring water into the basin and watching it switch on and empty.
Does the sump need a sealed lid?
In an encapsulated crawlspace, yes. An open basin lets damp air and the smell of standing water into a space you are paying to keep dry, so the lid is sealed when the sump is paired with encapsulation. In a vented crawlspace a lid still keeps debris and animals out of the pump.
